Dear Senator Josh Hawley,

December 10 marks the 71st anniversary of the groundbreaking Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR). Championed by Eleanor Roosevelt following the atrocities of World War II, the UDHR is the cornerstone of the international human rights system and has helped countless people achieve greater freedom and dignity across the globe.

In recognition of this important occasion, Rep. Alan Lowenthal and Sen. Chris Coons recently introduced a resolution commemorating this anniversary and honoring the core American values that underpin this historic document. As your constituent and a strong supporter of the UDHR and the United Nations, I urge you to become an original cosponsor of this resolution.

The rights enshrined in the UDHR are a reflection of our country’s guiding morals, upholding the same basic principles of liberty and freedom enshrined within our own Constitution and Bill of Rights. Your cosponsorship will send a strong signal about the U.S.’s ongoing commitment to justice, equality, and the rule of law no matter the time, place, or occasion.

To cosponsor the House resolution, please contact Ngoc Nguyen in the office Rep. Alan Lowenthal.

To cosponsor the Senate resolution, please contact Emma Borden in the office Sen. Chris Coons.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Sincerely, Amb. Haissam Bou-Said 1503 MAIN St # 375 Saint Louis, MO 63101 commissioner@ihrc-geneve.org
