We are thrilled to celebrate Michelle Bachelet, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights & former President of Chile, at the 2019 #HRCawards! Bachelet was the first woman to serve as President of Chile from 2006 to 2010 and from 2014 to 2018, and the first person to be reelected since 1932. During her time as president, she established the Ministry of Women and Gender Equality and adopted quotas for women’s political participation. As High Commissioner for United Nations Human Rights, she has continued to advocate for the safety and security of vulnerable communities. We look forward to welcoming Bachelet to Georgetown University on Friday for the #HRCawards.
