IHRC: Zakzaki faith and responsibilities in the Hands of the Nigerian High Authorities

The IHRC Situation Room has noted the disgusting and dismaying posture of the Federal Republic of Nigeria government of President Mohammadu Buhari in his total disregard for the rule of law. H.E Dr. Tivlumun Innocent Ahure of the Africa Region HQ of IHRC in a report on the case of Sheikh Ibrahim Yakoub El Zakzaky raised the need for the UN security council to wade into the matter. Sheikh El-Zakzaky has been in detention without trial for over 4 years after his followers were massacred in broad daylight; his wife and family killed and his home burnt, in a gory and shameful show of brute force by the Nigerian Army. This particular state violence is nothing short of genocide. On December 2, 2016 the Abuja Division of the Federal High Court Presided by Justice Kolawole ordered the release of Sheikh El-Zakzaky and berated the Nigerian government for violating his rights. The Buhari government is not law abiding with many cases of non-conformity with the constitutional law courts rulings in Nigeria.
