“From the North Pole to the South Pacific, climate change threatens peoples livelihoods, communities, health, development, even their lives,” UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Michelle Bachelet says at the start of the UN Climate Change Conference in Madrid. To prevent its steadily worsening impact, States need to strengthen their mitigation commitments, nationally determined contributions and cooperate with each other.
