Open House Discussion on NHRC bonded and migrant labor

Bonded and migrant felt NHRC Open House discussion of participants on labor that the root cause of this threat is agricultural crisis that needs to be addressed on a priority in the country. It was also suggested that clean a letter to the Chief Ministers from the Prime Minister on the lines of the Mission Mode missions such as India campaign will help to prioritize this issue.

Mr. Jaideep Govind, Secretary General, NHRC said that the inability of social and economic marginalization of vulnerable groups and exit from their respective groups makes them particularly vulnerable to forced labor and human trafficking. In addition, he said, produces huge power imbalance in informal and lack of labor regulations in unregulated areas of employer-labor relations and workers increases vulnerability to exploitation. Therefore, involving all stakeholders, community-based movements and grassroots awareness is an urgent need for concerted efforts, including the campaign.

Despite the Labor and Employment Ministry Joint Secretary Shri Ajay Tiwari said that efforts in the way of effective implementation of the Bonded Labor System (Abolition) Act, there are still many challenges. Some of these are:

A page on the National Portal for data pooling on bonded labor -Various sources and in particular the problem of the vastness of the fair evaluation of the development of one page of non-governmental organizations working in the field;

To -rashtryy load all plans and guidelines related to forced labor on the portal, which can be easily accessed by the field-level executives to build awareness;

– Create a system to continue to provide bonded laborers job cards so that they could get jobs under the other plans of holding and ensure employment;

– Preparation of a general training course for members of vigilance committees;

The PDS portability and forced labor to work on a system for health care;

To broadcast the political parties, leaders and panchayats messages on papers and radio and television and explain through broadcasting about the problem of bonded labor.

Participants included senior officials of NHRC, Special Raporters, bonded and non-members of the NHRC core group of labor, government, civil society, representatives of international bodies.
