Monday, 29 July This morning, the Security Council is expected to hold a briefing, followed by consultations on the UN Support Mission in Libya and on Libya sanctions.
At 10 a.m., in Conference Room 2, the General Assembly is holding a meeting of the Ad-Hoc Working Group of the Whole on the Regular Process for Global Reporting and Assessment of the State of the Marine Environment, including Socioeconomic Aspects. The Working Group will hold this session from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
At 12:30 p.m., at the United Nations Visitors Lobby (Sputnik Area), the Deputy Secretary-General, Amina Mohammed, will participate in the opening of “One Day, I will”, a photo exhibition on girls in humanitarian crises. The exhibition portrays girls trapped in crises around the world and is presented by the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), with the support of the Permanent Missions of France and Morocco to the UN. The event will kick off the 2019 World Humanitarian Day campaign, which will honour women humanitarians around the world during the month of August, using the hashtag #womenhumanitarians.
In Geneva, the second part of the 71st Session of the International Law Commission continues until 9 August. The 67th session of the Committee against Torture of the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights continues until 9 August.
Also in Geneva, the Meeting of Experts to the Convention on the Prohibition of the Development, Production and Stockpiling of Bacteriological (Biological) and Toxin Weapons and on Their Destruction begins today and will continue until 9 August. The third session of the Conference on Disarmament also opens today and will continue until 13 September.
Tuesday, 30 July Today, we mark 2 international days: The International Day of Friendship and the World Day against Trafficking in Persons.
This morning, the Security Council is expected to hold a briefing, followed by consultations, on the Middle East (Syria).
At 10 a.m., the Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Children and Armed Conflict will brief the press on the annual report of the Secretary-General on children and armed conflict, scheduled for publication earlier that morning.
Wednesday, 31 July There are no events scheduled for today.
Thursday, 1 August World Breastfeeding Week begins today and continues until 7 August.
At 3 p.m., in the briefing room (S-237), there will be a press briefing by Ambassador Joanna Wronecka, President of the Security Council for the month of August and Permanent Representative of Poland.
Today is an official holiday in Geneva as the country celebrates Swiss National Day.
Friday, 2 August In Geneva, the 50th Session of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) opens today and continues until 6 August. The second part of the 71st Session of the International Law Commission continues until 9 August.
