Monday, 10 June
In the morning, the Security Council is expected to adopt a resolution on Libya. It will also be briefed on the United Nations Mission in Kosovo (UNMIK).
At 10:45 a.m. the Secretary-General will have a live conversation with Melinda Gates and Jack Ma to launch the report and recommendations of the High-level Panel on Digital Cooperation. The conversation will be streamed live on http://webtv.un.org and on the UN’s social media channels.
At noon, in room S-237, there will be a briefing on the report of the High-level Panel on Digital Cooperation. The speakers will be: Nikolai Astrup, Minister of Digitalization of Norway, Vint Cerf, Chief Internet Evangelist, Google, Nanjira Sambuli. Senior Policy Manger, World Wide Web Foundation and Amandeep Gill, co-Director of the Panel.
In the afternoon, the Security Council will have a troop contributing country meeting to the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA).
At 1:15 p.m. in Conference Room E, there will be an event entitled “UHC: Leaving No One Behind Through Community-Based Health Programs.” The event is organized by the International Organization for Migration (IOM), World Health Organization (WHO), the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV and AIDS (UNAIDS)—and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC).
Tuesday, 11 June
The 12th Session of the Conference of State Parties to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities– COSP12 begins today. The event is organized by the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA).
The UN Committee of Experts on Business and Trade Statistics also begins today. It is organized by the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA).
In the morning, the Security Council will be briefed on the protection of civilians in armed conflict: missing persons in armed conflict.
The guests at the Noon Briefing will be Representatives of The Elders, Ms. Mary Robinson (Chair) and Ms. Ellen Johnson Sirleaf.
In the afternoon, the Security Council will have a troop contributing country meeting to the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF) and the United Nations–African Union Mission in Darfur (UNAMID).
In Geneva at 1 p.m. in Press Room 1, there will be a briefing by the World Health Organization (WHO) on the release of new estimates of the prevalence of mental disorders in conflict settings, published in The Lancet. The speakers will be: Dr Mark van Ommeren, Coordinator, Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse, WHO, Dr Fahmy Hanna, Technical Officer, Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse, WHO and Dr Jorge Castilla, Senior Emergency Officer, WHO.
At 3 p.m. in Press Room 1, there will be a briefing by the UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) on the publication of the World Investment Report 2019: Special Economic Zones. The speakers will be Mukhisa Kituyi, UNCTAD Secretary-General and James Zhan, Director, Division on Investment and Enterprise, UNCTAD.
Wednesday, 12 June
Today is World Day Against Child Labour.
In the morning, the Security Council will be briefed on the maintenance of international peace and security: conflict prevention and mediation.
In the afternoon, the Security Council will be briefed on and hold consultations on the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA).
At 12.45 p.m., in S-237, there will be a press briefing by Mr. Navid Hanif, Director, Financing for Sustainable Development Office, Department of Economic and Social Affairs. He will brief reporters on the launch of the World Investment Report 2019.
At 1:15 p.m. on the North Lawn, the Holocaust and the United Nations Outreach Programme will dedicate a sapling to the legacy of Anne Frank. The sapling is a descendent of the tree that stood outside the secret annex in which the Frank family hid from the Nazis. It has been donated to the United Nations by the Anne Frank Center for Mutual Respect. There will be remarks on behalf of the Secretary-General by Ms. Catherine Pollard, Under-Secretary-General of General Assembly and Conference Management; Ms. Alison Smale, Under-Secretary-General for Global Communications, and Ms. Sharon Douglas, Chief Executive Officer of the Anne Frank Center for Mutual Respect.
Thursday, 13 June
Today is the International Albinism Awareness Day.
In the morning, the Security Council will be briefed on the cooperation between the UN and regional and sub-regional organizations: League of Arab States.
At 9:00 a.m. in S-2727, there will be an Expert Meeting of the Global Investors for Sustainable Development’ Alliance(GISD) organized by the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA).
At 9:30 a.m. in Room -310, there will be a seminar entitled “Music and Disadvantaged Demographics” co-organized by the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) and Time Ranger Inc.
In the afternoon, the Security Council will hold consultations on the Middle East (Syria).
Friday, 14 June
Today is World Blood Donor Day.
In the Hague, at 3 p.m. at the Peace Palace, the International Court of Justice (ICJ), the principal judicial organ of the United Nations, will deliver its Order on the request for the indication of provisional measures made by the United Arab Emirates in the case concerning Application of the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination (Qatar v. United Arab Emirates). A public sitting will take place during which Judge Abdulqawi Ahmed Yusuf, President of the Court, will read the Court’s Order.
In the morning, the Security Council will be briefed on and hold consultations on the United Nations–African Union Mission in Darfur (UNAMID).
At 10:00 a.m. in Conference Room 12, there will be an event on the International Day of Family Remittances: Supporting one billion people reach their own SDGs. The event is organized by the 2019 GFMD Chairmanship (Ecuador), the Permanent Missions of Algeria, Guatemala, Madagascar and Philippines, IFAD, UN DESA and IOM.
In the afternoon, the Security Council will be briefed on and hold consultations on Burundi.
In Geneva, at 6:00 p.m. in Cinema Room (Room XIV) there will be an exclusive avant-première screening of “Sea of Shadows”, a National Geographic documentary film, executive produced by Leonardo DiCaprio, directed by Richard Ladkani, and produced by Terra Mater Factual Studios. A reception will precede the screening at 5:30 p.m. near Cinema Room XIV. The screening will be followed by a discussion on “Sea of Shadows: Crisis in the Sea of Cortez” with Richard Ladkani, Director of Sea of Shadows (moderator); Ivonne Higuero, CITES Secretary-General; Cynthia Smith, Executive Director, National Marine Mammal Foundation; Andrea Crosta, Co-Founder & Director, Earth Action League; Wolfgang Knoepfler, Terra Mater Factual Studios.
