Dear Amb. Dr. Haissam,
The UN has declared the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) outbreak a global pandemic. I wanted you to be the first to know that Republicans, Democrats and Independents alike are united in their belief that no one country can battle a pandemic alone.
Just a few hours ago, the Better World Campaign released anew poll: Two thirds of respondents said that global cooperation to address health crises is a top priority and 82% said it is important that the U.S. work to limit the spread of coronavirus in other countries.
COVID-19 is spreading on a global scale and governments can’t act alone. That’s where UN agencies like the World Health Organization (WHO) come in. Together with countries and partners around the world, WHO is working to detect, prevent, and respond to this global health emergency. It’s no surprise that 77% of Americans trust th world health organization to handle the global response to the coronavirus.
Aa UNA-USA advocate, we know you are willing to stand up for the UN’s crucial impact, especially during a global crisis. Now that these poll results are in, I’m counting on you to let Congress know that global cooperation with organizations like the UN and WHO is important to Americans like you.
We need this polling in front of as many elected officials as possible. I urge you to send a message to members of Congress, and ask your friends, families, and fellow advocates to do the same.
P.S. You can view the poll results in detail here.
In solidarity,
Rachel Bowen Pittman Executive Director, UNA-USASEND A MESSA
